DO YOU OFFER DAYCARE OR EXTENDED HOURS ON THE WEEKEND?

We are open Monday through Friday 7:00am-6:00pm, Saturday 8:00-10:00am, and closed Sundays. We do offer a after hours pickup on the weekend. You can pick up at 5:00pm on Saturday, or at 10:00 or at 5:00 on Sunday for a fee of $15. At this time, we do not offer daycare on the weekends.

WHAT ARE YOUR DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP TIMES?

Our hours are Monday through Friday 7:00am to 6:00pm. Established clients may drop off their dogs between 7:00am and 10:00am.  New clients must drop off between 7:00am and 9:00am. No dogs will be allowed to drop off after 10:00am. You may pick-up your pet at anytime, but typically clients pick-up between 4:00pm and 6:00pm. If you can’t make it by 6:00pm during the week, we will let you check them out at 6:30pm for $15.

HOW DOES BOARDING AT HAPPY TRAILS PET CENTER DIFFER FROM THAT OF A TRADITIONAL KENNEL?

Kennels vary, but in a “traditional” kennel, your dog usually remains in a kennel or crate most of the day and let out for @15 minutes. Typically, your  dogs do not interact with other dogs. Some kennels will offer 15-minute play times with a staff member for an extra charge. Happy Trails Pet Center offers all-day play at no additional cost.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE BOARDING FEE?

Compared to a traditional kennel, we provide a social environment for your dogs. We will feed your food at no extra charge and provide any nighttime treats you provide. If you forget or your dog runs out of food, we will feed your pet our grain free dog food at $2.50 per meal. We also do not charge extra for providing your pet with their medications. Daycare is included in all of our boarding rates. But like a hotel, if you check out by 10:00am there is no additional cost, but if you check out after 10:00am before 6:00pm the charge is 1/2 rate $15. Access to our web cams is also included so you can always watch your dog play while you are away.  Camera’s are on from 10:00am – 4:00pm Monday through Friday.

DO YOU HAVE WEBCAMS

Yes, at the time of check-in please ask one of our staff members to set up the app for your phone, a username, and a password. The username and password is good for the day. Webcams are available between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

SOMETIMES WHEN I DROP OFF OR PICK UP IT IS LOUD AND SEEMS A LITTLE CHAOTIC. IS IT ALWAYS LIKE THAT?

The dogs are excited to play when they get here, but they also know when its time for you to pick them up. You will always hear the dog’s barking, their dogs. But in the morning, they are ready to go, and when they see their friends or a new dog they are just letting us know they’re ready. When we let them out, they run and play, they settle down, so the barking usually stops. There’s always that one dog that likes to bark at the squirrels, the leaves, or the wind.  When we put them back in the kennels, they know the next step is out the door, so they start barking because they know your own the way. Instinctively, dogs know when your supposed to be there.  But keep in mind we do have to be good neighbors and you will hear us tell the dogs to “HUSH”, because our neighbors are are running a business too. As far as customers in the lobby, it seems everyone shows up at the same time.

DO DOGS EVER GET HURT?

It is a doggie daycare, so it could happen. We do our best to keep all the dogs safe. You watch the dogs and us on the cameras, and you can see that the dogs are never left unattended, but accidents happen in a second. During normal play dogs may get scrapes and scratches, may even break a nail, but we do let them be dogs and they give as much as they take. We ensure that all play is fair and no one is getting picked on.

WHAT DO YOU DO IN CASE OF ILLNESS OR INJURY?

We quickly assess the situation to determine what needs to be done. If it is something that can be tended to we will wait on the vet until we reach you. But if it is something that needs immediate attention, we will make every effort to contact you immediately, and let you know. Our primary concern will always be for your pets well being. If the situation arose that your pet needed immediate attention, we go to the closest vet, Acworth Animal Hospital. We will continue to try and contact you to keep you informed of the situation.

WILL MY DOG LIKE THIS ENVIRONMENT?

Every dog is different, but part of our evaluation process is to assess whether your dog enjoys this type of environment. Most dogs love it, some dogs hate it, some enjoy being out of the house, and some are not sure what is going on, but we do our best to help them enjoy the day. At the end of the day we will tell you how the day went and whether your dog enjoyed the day or was nervous the whole day. It’s usually one of the two, but if your dog is aggressive, they will be dismissed by the end of the day. We want your dog to be as happy as you do, so we will be honest with you, if we feel this isn’t the best environment for your dog, we’ll let you know.

HOW ABOUT AN OLDER DOG…WILL THEY ENJOY THIS ENVIRONMENT?

This, of course, depends on your dog. We have several older dogs that love the interaction with other dogs. At Happy Trails Pet Center we separate dogs into our various play areas based partly upon activity level. A larger or older dog may be placed with other older, mellow dogs of similar size. The evaluation process will also help us, and you, determine if our environment is right for your dog. We are constantly evaluating each dog’s behavior, and if we view your dog as overwhelmed or tired, then we will place your dog in one of our kennels for a short timeout.

MY DOG HAS HEALTH ISSUES. CAN HE/SHE STILL COME?

This depends on the health issues. There are certain illnesses that don’t mix well in a social environment. State law mandates that we cannot give your dog injections; therefore we cannot accept diabetic dogs that require injections. We also cannot accept dogs with communicable diseases or parasites. There are other health issues such as ear infections, arthritis, glaucoma, and cancer, which we are usually able to accommodate. It is best to discuss any possible issues with a staff member when setting up your dog’s evaluation.

I HAVE A SMALL DOG AND I SEE A BUNCH OF BIG DOGS ON THE WEBCAMS. IS THIS A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR SMALL DOGS?

Yes, we separate dogs into our play areas based on size, temperament, and activity level.
