What are the requirements for my dog to attend daycare or board?

What vaccines need to be current?

RABIES, DHP, AND BORDETELLA must be current at all times when your dog comes for daycare or boarding. All vaccines must be administered by a vet or professional vaccination retailer. Owners are responsible for providing Happy Trails Pet Center, Inc with all up to date vaccines within 30 days of expiration or the dog will not be allowed to play or stay. Flea and heartworm preventatives are encouraged but not required. This should be discussed with your veterinarian.

How old does my dog have to be to attend?

All dogs must be at least 3 months of age and have had their 3rd round of vaccines.

Does my dog have to be spayed or neutered?

We recommend that all dogs be spayed or neutered. Most vets recommend that larger breeds wait until their first birthday before being fixed. We have allowed not neutered males to participate in daycare and boarding as long as they do not mark excessively or try to mount other dogs.  Females must be spayed on or around their first year heat cycle.

My dog has to take a pill, can he stay?

We have all types of dogs come to stay in daycare and board. Some are old, some have health issues, some have to take medicine daily. We ask that you let us know of the issues ahead of time so we can determine if they can stay. We try to accommodate all dogs, but unfortunately sometimes your dog may require more professional medical attention that we can provide.
