WHY DO YOU REQUIRE AN EVALUATION?
We want to make sure your dog is comfortable with the environment, the routine, the new people, and other dogs in a pack environment. The evaluation provides us with an opportunity to determine how your dog will interact with other dogs. We are not only concerned for your dog’s safety, but we want to ensure the safety of all of our doggies. In our social environment, it is extremely important that we do not allow dogs that exhibit aggressive behavior or that have any medical conditions that may be harmful to the other dogs. The evaluation process also allows us to introduce your dog into the general play areas slowly so that we do not over stimulate your dog. At Happy Trails Pet Center, the initial evaluation day is only $15 for the whole day.
WHAT SHOULD I DO THE DAY OF MY DOG’S EVALUATION?
The day of your dog’s evaluation, you will drop off between 7:00-9:00am with a copy of your dog’s shot records, fill out the application, take a tour of the facility, and we will set up your cell phone to watch the dog play cameras. Please allow yourself 15-20 minutes to go through the process. We do not accept new dogs after 9:00am. You will pick up your pup between 2:00-6:00pm and the cost for the day is $15.
SHOULD I BRING FOOD OR BLANKET/PILLOW?
No. We have already fed our overnight borders. We only our borders once in the morning and once in the evening. You also do not need to bring any bedding because your dog will be playing the whole day, so no time for a nap. They nap when they get home.
WHAT IS THE EVALUATION PROCESS?
At Happy Trails Pet Center, the initial evaluation day is $15 for a whole day of daycare. The evaluation usually consists of us leading your dog into a separate play area where we spend a little time getting to know your dog and checking to see how your dog interacts with people. During this time, we will also look your dog over for any possible issues such as fleas and ticks and for any existing injuries that may worsen when playing with other dogs. Other dogs will be introduced into the evaluation area one at a time in order to see how your dog interacts with other dogs. After we are comfortable with your dog and your dog’s reactions to other dogs and are confident that your dog feels secure in the environment, your pup – along with his/her new friends – will be introduced into the appropriate play area based on their temperament, and activity level. Please be aware that if we do have issues with your dog during the evaluation process, we may need to contact you to come pick them up early.
