Why do you require an evaluation?

We want to make sure your dog is comfortable with the environment, the routine, the new people, and other dogs in a pack environment.  The evaluation provides us with an opportunity to determine how your dog will interact with other dogs. We are concerned for your dog’s safety, but we also want to ensure the safety of all of our doggies. In our social environment, it is extremely important that we do not allow dogs that exhibit aggressive behavior or that have any medical conditions that may be harmful to the other dogs. The evaluation process also allows us to introduce your dog into the general play areas slowly so that we do not over stimulate your dog.

What is the evaluation process?

On the day of your appointment/evaluation, you must bring a current copy of your dog's shot records that should include RABIES,DHP, AND BORDETELLA.

We will meet you at the car, please let us know that it is your first day. We will bring your dog inside the building and park them in their own kennel. We want them to smell, to see, and to listen so they will get used to this new environment. Remember this is new, so more than likely your dog will be nervous. Other parents compare it to dropping their kid off the first day of school. They say they don't know who was more nervous the parents or the kids.

At 10:00am your dog will come out with the other dogs depending on how they are acting or reacting. Some dogs come right out and start acting like the other dogs and playing. But some dogs react in a more nervous way and need additional work from our staff so it's not so overwhelming. Not all dogs get used to daycare within their first hour and it may take some dogs a couple visits before they get it.

Depending on the weather, we will be outside or in the warehouse all day until 4:00pm. That's when we put them up for the day. Most of them come home exhausted because they have been up and alert from 10:00-4:00 and not just on the couch all day.

When you pick up, we will go over how the day went. We'll be honest about it, good or bad. We want all dogs to come in and have great time, but not all do.

What do I need to do the day of my dog's evaluation?

The day of your dog’s evaluation, you will drop off at your appointment time with a copy of your dog’s shot records, bring a copy of your application, take a tour of the facility, and we'll download the app to your cell phone so you can watch your dog play on the webcams. Please allow yourself 15-20 minutes to go through the process so please be on time. You will pick up your dog between 2:00-6:00pm and the cost for the day is $15.

Should I bring food, blanket, or pillow?

Nope, all we need is you and the dog (on a leash). We have already fed the borders that stayed with us overnight. We feed the borders twice a day, so no more food or treats are given out during the day. Food on the floor could cause a fight and we want everyone to place nice. You also do not need to bring any bedding because your dog will be playing the whole day, so no nap time.  You want them to nap when they get home. They usually eat and go right to bed.
